We develop the provision of support for the exercise of legal capacity and the defense of the rights of people with mental illness in Bizkaia, by means of the support measures judicially agreed upon for those people who need them:
Either in the present, exercising the guardianship functions entrusted to us judicially and promoting their access to the resources and support they need to carry out the personal project they desire. Or in the future, accompanying families in the assessment and determination of support measures, whether voluntary, informal or judicial, and encouraging them to assume the provision of such measures, committing ourselves to take over when necessary, as well as developing actions in defense of their capacity and rights.
That persons with adult mental illness with support needs in decision-making and in the exercise of their legal capacity have the legal protection and the services and support they need to develop their personal project throughout their lives.
That the families of persons with mental illness have the answers and support they need in the assessment of the support that their relatives may need, whether voluntary, informal or judicially established, as well as accompaniment in the provision of such support, especially the exercise of guardianship functions.
That all agents involved in the legal protection and support for the exercise of the capacity and defense of the rights of persons with mental illness contribute to this by seeking their maximum quality of life and participation in the community, in accordance with their life project.
That our organization is considered by the people we accompany, their families and society, as the appropriate relief to the family in the exercise of the judicially determined support, giving them peace of mind regarding the future, when they are absent or unable to take care of their relatives with mental illness. Also to be a reference in the legal protection and defense of the rights of people with mental illness, for its model of close and committed accompaniment with the participation and quality of life of each person, and for its ethical, responsible and transparent management model.
From the provision of support measures for the exercise of legal capacity, that is, the defense and protection of the rights of people with mental illness and support for their families, and aligned with the AVIFES quality of life model which governs its priorities and actions in the way of understanding mental illness, in the design and development of support for these people, in the intervention in its services and programs and in the evaluation of their results and impacts, highlight the following values:
